چکیده

The Local-As-View (LAV) integration approach aims at querying heterogeneous data in dynamic environments. In LAV, data sources are described as views over a global schema which is used to pose queries. Query processing requires to generate and execute query rewritings, but for SPARQL queries, the LAV query rewritings may not be generated or executed in a reasonable time. In this paper, we present SemLAV, an alternative technique to process SPARQL queries over a LAV integration system without generating rewritings. SemLAV executes the query against a partial instance of the global schema which is built on-the-fly with data from the relevant views. The paper presents an experimental study for SemLAV, and compares its performance with traditional LAV-based query processing techniques. The results suggest that SemLAV scales up to SPARQL queries even over a large number of views, while it significantly outperforms traditional solutions.

SemLAV: Querying Deep Web and Linked Open Data with SPARQL

SemLAV allows to execute SPARQL queries against the Deep Web and Linked Open Data data sources. It implements the mediatorwrapper architecture based on view definitions over remote data sources. SPARQL queries are expressed using a mediator schema vocabulary, and SemLAV selects relevant data sources and rank them. The ranking strategy is designed to deliver results quickly based only on view de...

Answering SPARQL Queries using Views

Views are used to optimize queries and to integrate data in Databases. The data integration schema is composed of terms, they are used to pose queries to the integration system, and to describe sources data. When the data descriptions are SPARQL conjunctive queries, their number and the complexity of answering queries using them may be very high. In order to keep query answering cost low, and i...

SPARQL Rewriting for Query Mediation over Mapped Ontologies

In the recent years establishing interoperability and supporting data integration has become a major research challenge for the web of data. Uniform information access of heterogeneous sources is of major importance for Semantic Web applications and end users. We describe a methodology for SPARQL query mediation over federated OWL/ RDF knowledge bases. The query mediation exploits mappings betw...

Parallel Data Loading during Querying Deep Web and Linked Open Data with SPARQL

Web integration systems are able to provide transparent and uniform access to heterogeneous Web data sources by integrating views of Linked Data, Web Service results, or data extracted from the Deep Web. However, given the potential large number of views, query engines of Web integration systems have to implement execution techniques able to scale up to real-world scenarios and efficiently exec...

Characterizing Machine Agent Behavior through SPARQL Query Mining

Mining SPARQL queries to understand the behavior of automated programs (or machine agents) is an important step in designing systems for the semantic web. We present techniques that differ from state-of-the-art SPARQL mining techniques in two ways: 1. Move away from one SPARQL query at a time view to SPARQL user session view 2. Look at the results of SPARQL queries in addition to the query itse...
